Make-Me-Up-Monday: Visible Bobby Pins

Via Glamour

Hello ladies, Happy Make-Me-Up-Monday!

Today we’re bringing you a daring hair survey, would you dare to wear this out-of-the-box, but inventive hair trend where you let your bobby pins be visible? Bobby pins are usually meant to do their duty undercover and never be seen but for this trend they’re front and center. It’s purposely  an undone, almost unfinished look with a down-to-earth, indie-bohemian edge. It can help dress down an over-the-top dress or statement lip quite nicely.

What do you think, would you wear this look? Would you wear it on your wedding day? Have a lovely weekend!

Make-Me-Up-Monday: Glitter is the new black

Hi Girls,

Happy Monday!

We hope you had an amazing Christmas with friends and family! Now New Year’s is around the corner and it’s time to talk NYE makeup. It’s all about glitter, glitter, glitter! All things shiny are big this year, sequins, glitter, and shiny embellished beading. Beauty is no exception. If you’re tying the knot on New Year’s day, how better to celebrate than with glitter? Break out those fantastic glitter platform heels, sequined dress and swipe on fabulous shiny glitter onto lids. Wear a glam set of false lashes for a dramatic effect. MAC makes an array of glitter in truly wondrous colors of equally stunning shine.  or head to the craft store for loose glitter to mix in with your favorite nail polish! For a fun look create an ombre style on nails as seen here. For the ultimate pucker press glitter onto lips after an application of gloss, just make sure not to lick your lips. Have fun with it, that’s what glitter is for! Have a safe and happy New Year!

Make-Me-Up-Monday: Red Hair

Red hair always reminds me of mythical creatures like mermaids. It has such a wonderful whimsical quality, the way it shines in the light, and the depth of rich color make it irresistible. The shades of red can vary from light ginger to intense mahogany and can flatter all skin tones. If you’re looking for an exciting new shade red might be worth considering. It has stunning contrast when paired with a white bridal gown and embellished head piece.

Make-Me-Up-Monday: The Socks with Heels Trend for your Bridal Party

Funky socks worn by a wedding party is nothing new but for the most part all the fun is left to the groomsmen! Well we think it’s high time to see the bridal party sporting some cute leg wear. The socks and heels trend is big for the season and conveniently cozy in the colder months. All though it may seem juvenile, this look can be dressed up for a high fashion execution a la Miu Miu.

Socks should be on the dressy side and can range from ankle length to knee-high. How colorful you want to go is up to you. Neutral tones like the ones above go well with different colored heels and styles. This socks with heels pairing looks best with platform, mary-jane or t-strap style heels not so much the strappy kind. Go all out and decorate your wedding day footwear with unique shoe clips too! Like the ones found at this Etsy shop. This will dress up simple bridesmaids dresses while adding a fun element for your bridal party and you. How cute would it be to pair your wedding day shoes with a pair of lacey or crocheted socks? Why should a garter take all the attention? Try Sock Theory or Lowie for some cute options.

Happy belated Monday, also known as Tuesday :) Hope you lovely ladies are having fun getting ready for the holidays! NDA is here to help narrow down your beauty look choices. We’re bringing you three sparkly fun holiday makeup inspirations today. Enjoy!

A classic red lip with simple yet captivating defined eyes is always a beautiful option. Choose a blue-based red lipstick or stain that has great staying power to avoid having to reapply during festivities. Define eyes on the top lid with a dark brown or black liner smudged softly to create a smoldering appearance. Avoid black liner on the bottom water line, that makes eyes appear smaller, instead use a white or nude liner to brighten and widen eyes.

A frosted eyeshadow brightens eyes and adds a bit of shimmer to your holiday look. Why not accent it with a swipe of black liner to create dramatic contrast? It’s the ultimate iced winter look! pair this eye look with a glossy nude or peach lip.

A dark dramatic lip will make a sophisticated statement at your New Year’s Eve party. Make sure and pair your favorite plum or wine lip color with subtle barely there eye makeup and keep your face make up neutral too. Polished is key. Enjoy your Thanksgiving week, start it off by getting dolled up with our favorite beauty looks!

Make-Me-Up-Monday: Head Scarf Styles

Happy Monday, ladies! Hope you’re holiday weekend was a great one. For this week’s make-Me-Up-Monday we’re bringing you a variety of styles to wear silk head scarves. Head scarves are popular for any season, they keep your hair from getting sweaty in the Summer, but now that it is getting chillier outside they are definitely more welcomed now. Pretty scarves can keep your neck and head (and ears too!) warm while looking chic, here’s how!

Different styles can be achieved using a simple silk scarf. There’s the retro Audrey Hepburn or Jackie O look with a scarf tied under the chin, a pretty pin-up inspired look with a top knot, a glam version with a scarf tied into a big bow or the effortless bohemian style with a long scarf tied around the forehead. Which ever you’re in to, there’s a style for every girl. As you can tell from these images the scarf works great for those days when you don’t know what to do with your hair. And it doesn’t matter how short or long your hair is. For longer hair, tie it into a high messy bun or leave it down in yesterdays curls.

Balance the head scarf out with defined eyes. Create a cat eye with black liner and exaggerate your lashes to give symmetry to your look. A red lip always adds a retro touch as well. But if you love a nude lip, go for it!

Here’s a fantastic scarf turned turban style that is sure to keep you cozy and looking cute. Any of the hair scarf styles would be a great option while you’re on your honeymoon!

Grace & Fred: Married at Cafe Pinot in LA

Hope you’re ready to see some stunning pictures! garce and Fred were wed at the downtown LA venue, Cafe Pinot. For Grace’s makeup look Nicole Deanne & Associates created a stunning palette of soft peach, a dusting of gold and a pop of coral to balance the feathers and frills of her gorgeous wedding gown and accessories. A strong winged liner gave a chic emphasis while defining her eyes and a flutter of full lashes added a bit of drama. Lashes are so important  to make your eyes stand out in photography. Grace’s hair was side-swept into a low tousled chignon and topped with a fancy fascinator and birdcage veil. Let’s talk about that dress! Just a couple posts ago we focused on the beauty of tulle wedding dresses and here’s a shining example. Yards and yards of tulle accented with scallops of beautiful lace, so pretty! Amelia Lyon captured the dress, as well as the entire wedding, so amazingly. See more photos of this wedding at her blog, here.

Below are some pictures from Grace and Fred’s engagement shoot also shot by Amelia Lyon. Grace wore a natural makeup look with wavy hair for their casual engagement shoot at Pasadena City Hall.

Make-Me-Up-Monday: Big Hair

Growing up with big frizzy hair was such a challenge for me, I hated it! It was all about the smooth sleek flat-ironed look and here I was with hair bigger than my body! And it was thick and coarse to boot. Well as I grew up and read more fashion magazines I realized that big hair was actually a blessing. I started to embrace my hair and instead of fighting it I worked with it. I learned to tame the frizz with out making my head look greasy, smooth the waves into submission and found a hair cut (after several awful ones) that suited my hair type. Ah, at last I was happy with having big hair. After all, it’s what every girl obsesses over, that full head of bouncy big hair. So if you have it flaunt it, love it, tease it!

At the moment big 60′s-80′s inspired hair is the big trend. Sexy bouffant, retro bee hives, shocking crimped frizz, amped up bouncy curls and waves like Adele’s are all the rage. The wedding industry is mostly classic looks that change ever so slightly. Brides sometimes feel intimidated to try something new and  unconventional but it only takes one or two daring brides to revolutionize a new look before every one else follows suit. Big hair for your big day is a beautiful choice. Big hair is one of those hairstyles that is a statement; it says you’re not afraid of showing of your curves, that you’re all woman and aren’t afraid to show it.

These hairstyles are pretty inspiration for your engagement shoot or boudoir session. Just pick a style that is reminiscent of the era you’re styling the shoot after, 60′s bombshell, 70′s fox or 80′s glam. Go big all around and pair big hair with a sultry smokey eye, full lashes and a pouty mouth. If you have fine hair and want to add fullness or have short hair and want to add length, clip in extensions are a quick temporary fix. Due to it’s popularity, blogs and beauty websites have been offering up tutorials for big hair, like this one for those girls with fine flat hair or this one for over-night full bouncy curls.

These gorgeous examples are different ways that big hair can be worn. A popular choice thanks to Spring 2012 runway trends is retro chic. Smooth and wavy parted down the middle a la Zooey D. or ratted and disheveled a la Brigette B. are sweet looks. Half up, all down, pinned or secured with a headband, either way there are a few tools and tricks to getting it there. Below are our favorite three tools to get big sexy hair.

* Tease: The Philips Teaze 3 row back comb takes all the work out of teasing and creates lots of volume with little effort.

* Pin: Securing your do is crucial, once you have a bump like you want it make sure it stays there. Strong hold bobby pins like Marianna Supreme Bobby Pins work great.

* Spray: Aquage Finishing Spray is our absolute favorite. Tames flyaways and sets your style with out a crunchy feeling.
